doilies...

a quest to do all kinds of things with the humble doilie...part II...

i think i actually had a bit too much fun making these...i decided at about 9:00pm to have a go and make them...small people in bed and it was very good and rewarding!  they spent the night in the airing cupboard and were 'set' by morning...i think this weekend me and the little people will be making a few more to go with these beauties...

and here is a recent charity shop find...a gorgeous hand painted glass tray...i love this...and i think the best bit is that the ball foot on the front left has come off at some point and been put back on backwards...!!!

70's tastic quilt...

i made this last night...and i'm really rather pleased with it...

it's quite a large quilt...not quite single bed sized but it would sit nicely on the top of a single bed... (of course at this point i could just go and measure the thing...but that would be no fun when i can type 100 words trying to explain!!)

i enjoyed making it, and i think i will make a blue/green one too and perhaps sell it/them...in that shop i have...you know the one...the one with 'opening soon' on the door and the windows white-washed out...

inspired by a quilt in Chloe Owens book All Sewn Up...which is a lovely book with lots of nice projects in...

happy weekending folks whatever you are up to...

a few bobs and bits

here are a few pics of recent things...

don't you just love Christmas...i do...so much so, i usually leave a couple of decorations up for the whole year...is that bad luck? someone once told me that you had to take them down by the '12th night' or you had to keep them up all year...fine by me i say...

Debbie from minnado's house wanted to see my shelves now that they are filling up a bit...in fact you can hardly see the nice 70's wallpaper...but we all know it's there really don't we?!!

and check out my ladder brackets! doing a grand job of holding up some rolls of fabric!!!!

i've been going a bit doilie bunting crazy recently...i think i will put some in my Folksy/Etsy shop...once the shelves have been put up...which i think is this week....

Saturday 7 April 2012

eastery what-nots...and crochet tetris!

we did a bit of easter baking...

here is my 'granny a day' stash so far...i was getting a bit concerned because i wasn't meeting my target...having decided to do 3 a day...a blanket for each little person in the house...but after reading the 'rules'...i feel much better now...it really doesn't matter how many you do!!! i like those sorts of rules...but i WILL have 365 squares per blanket by next March...

couldn't help but think of Tetris...i love that game...

and look at these cool dudes! the superhero family we all made yesterday in a moment of crafty aftyness...from left to right...zak's mine, reuben's, daddy's and tallulah's...mine is Captain Moustache and daddy's is Dave Grohl (foo fighters!!!!)...the little people did really well with these, they sewed on the buttons, hair and capes and did some cutting out too...a good effort i thought...i just love them...they have already been on several superhero missions this morning...tallulah's had to go on a mission to help some tomato's seed.......

keep your curiosity sacred....

oh comely is such a fantastic magazine...especially if you celebrate the ordinary...which i do...and  you love quirkyness...

issue 9 has a very funny article about a day in the life of a mum and her son...who is 2...and in charge for the day...can you imagine...digging in mud wearing a purple bridesmaid dress...and thats just the mum...

it did make me think and wonder if i would ever be brave enough to let my 3 take charge of the whole day...the odd food bit i could do...and possibly the digging in mud with a bridesmaid dress on...and the ice cream lunch...not sure about eating leaves or ambushing a sheep...

my 3 would probably have me wear pants on my head and walk around the city backwards shouting...who knows...it might actually be quite good for the soul!

Tuesday 3 April 2012

easter lovelyness...and a visit from the bunny...

day 2...Easter Holidays...or is it really day 4? do you count the weekend or just the monday and tuesday??? anyway...we are all enjoying the relaxed pace and i have been doing a spot of spring cleaning while the little people are in tennis camp...

and look who came...

the easter bunny himself...

this gorgeous little chap was made by the lovely Magpie Mimi and has been under wraps for a couple of weeks waiting for the Easter Hols to come out of his bubble wrap bed...

tonight is stitch and bitch night and i am hoping to crochet together the squares for my granny a day and then i will do a big 'reveal' post...
