rainy days...doing days...

so it's peeing down today....

and has been since yesterday morning and it's also quite chilly....the type of chill to give  you brain freeze...i'm not going to waffle on about the weather too much tho...because it is what it is and we can't change that...so just buy a decent rain coat and get on with life eh?!?

but on days like this it's nice to have a project on the go...

and my latest is to transform this bookcase (rescued from a neighbours garden in the snow) which really is just a shambles of odd bits of wood very roughly put together and holding on tight by a wing and a prayer...to something a bit more....well, a bit more of bobby dazzling!

with the help of my trusty friends Mr Farrow and Mr Ball...

hopefully in a day or two and after a couple more undercoats, the poor sorry bookcase will be wearing a new jacket...

and then....

i bought this old wallpaper off Ebay (it smells really old so it must be!!!!!) and i was thinking of putting it down the back of the shelves (because you can actually see daylight through them at the mo...as you can see in the pic)

and after that, i will carry the whole thing back upstairs and plonk it in my crafty room and pop lots of useful bits and bobs on it's shelves and there it will live happily ever after...

The End

  1. Good luck with the project - the wall paper looks cute. Tell me, do you do careful sanding first? I am always looking for a short cut and wondered how diligent I need to be. AND I am jealous of the fact you have a craft room! Have a good week, x

  2. Minnado! hi there, i have done no sanding what so ever on this particular project!!! naughty eh??? i do sand if it's furniture we are going to use, like our table which i painted in the same Farrow & Ball gloss, but i thought because this is going in my room...it doesn't need a sand!! and when i say craft room...what i mean is, the room where we have our spare bed, computer, ironing, general junk, and down one wall is a desk with a sewing machine on, and shelves with fabric on...i wish it was a craft room only tho...we can dream can't we...xxx

  3. I like your Pez dispenser collection! The wallpaper looks vintage 70s, such a good find! Can't wait to see the finished product!

  5. Have you heard the (I think) Swedish saying about how there is no bad weather, only inappropiate clothes, I think it's so true!
