is it just me...

is it just me or am i going mad...this thought has been rattling around my head since friday night... i was going through some of my usual blogs and reading up on what everyone has been up and making/wearing/eating etc and generally taking a peek into someone elses life really...

i like blogs...i like real life...but after reading one of my faves on friday night i found myself overcome with a sense of what i can only described as 'WTF???'

the author of the blog asking for donations towards a new roof for her house...a beautiful house she shares with her hubby and cat...what is the world coming too...is it just me?? am i the one with the problem??? needless to say, she got a few angry replies to this...but also a fair few donations too...

the author has her own business, no children and a hubby who works too, plus a successful shop from her blog...so why the need to stoop so low?

this has left me with a sour taste in my mouth and i doubt i will be reading the blog again...

so please tell me folks...is it just me? am i out of touch with the world?

sorry for the sunday rant...i'm looking forward to hearing all your thoughts...

yarn bomb and yarn stash...

a bit of yarn bombing has been going on here in sunny Norwich...

all the lamp posts outside the City Hall were bombed and the lion...and then removed by the council...and then replaced when the 'bombers' explained that they had put them there as part of the Norfolk & Norwich Festival going on at the moment...i think they look lovely...

this week has been all about sorting, tidying, de-cluttering and organising...i dare to think of how many balls of wool i have...but it was good to sort them out and see what i have got...best get crocheting this weekend...

butterflies and birds...

happy weekending folks whatever you do...

the one about the buttons...and friends

ahhh you can't beat a few nice buttons on a raggy bit of card...or is that just me...

ok...so it might just be me, but there is something lovely about a few buttons sewn onto a bit of card...i can't bring myself to use any of these because i just think they look nice mounted on scraggy card...little pieces of art almost...

these aren't buttons...these are mirangues with edible glitter on them...we make them from time to time around here and let me tell  you...they look lovely, and they taste just soooooo  nice...they never last long around here once out of the oven...

and a final note today...on friendship...i spent Sunday with my 2 bestest friends..we don't live near eachother anymore...we met here in Norwich at the Art School...about 17 years ago now, and once our course had finished i stayed here, and they both went back to their home towns...we have met quite a few times a year ever since and no matter how long the gap since we were last in touch we always pick up right where we left off...we have an ability to spend a day in london together just going from coffee shop to coffee shop catching up and making a whole day out seem like it was 10 minutes long...

i'm lucky to have friends like these...friends where you can just be yourself and not be judged...and always come home feeling very inspired and positive...

so heres to cinnamon swirls, crocheting in the sun and good friends...

when the Luminarium came to town...

now...you might know that i am a bit of a fan of looking through photos and wondering what our family was up to on this day, last year, the year before and the year before that etc etc..well...today 3 years ago...the luminarium came to town...

the luminairum is like...erm....a massive art installation thing...which is a bit like how i imagine being inside a bouncy castle...so the whole structure is inflated and all the light is natural (and very bright!) making patterns and shapes...thats probably a rubbish description...but it was quite amazing...

hard to believe all this beautiful light is just the sun shining through the fabric of the structure...

the ground was very squidgy and you had to walk about without shoes on...which felt great...you could also bounce off the walls too and go into some of the little pods and sit in very bright light...

it was a great hour or so....we had to wait a while to get in there...it was very popular...and they only let a certain amount of people in at a time, which was brilliant because it would have been rubbish if it was crammed full of people...

if you ever get the chance to visit a luminarium...then do it...

so that was us...3 years ago...

friday...hooray...

i just wanted to share a recent charity shop find...3 lovely napkins with beautiful embroidered corners...

all 3 for £1.75...bargain...

and last night i set to with a little idea...

and tah-dah...i made this little sewing/crochet case thingy-me-bob...

it still needs a bit of fine-tuning...but i think it's not half bad for a Thursday night!!!

and on to something completely different...(here comes weather watch again...) with it peeing down rather a lot at the moment here, i had a look through my photos and remembered days we spent on holiday in Wales with good friends, in 2009 and 2010...it rained probably everyday at some point...tho we did get some beach trips in(!)...we just got wellies and rain coats and off we went...

i have blogged about this amazing barn conversion set in the middle of nowhere in the Welsh countryside in my early blog days...but i thought a 2nd round of photos was allowed because i have such fond memories of the days spent here...there is something quite special about staying somewhere with no electricity...love it...

these were 4 sky lanterns we lit one night...

very happy days...

have a good weekend folks
